The transition from iPhone to Android could be a simple or full of pitfalls transition, it all depends on the choices you make. In this tutorial we will show you the best ways to transfer contacts, photos and more from iPhone to Android. Let's get started.

How to transfer contacts, photos and more from iPhone to Android

1. How to transfer contacts from iPhone to Android

One of the first things you will want to do when you switch from iPhone to Android is to transfer your contacts. The simplicity of this process will depend heavily on how you synchronized your contacts previously. Are you syncing your contacts with your Google Account? In this case, switching contacts on your brand new Android smartphone is a breeze! All you have to do is enter the details of your Google account. All saved numbers will be automatically downloaded to your new device.

If you haven't synced your contacts, however, you'll need to work a little more. The easiest way is probably to use iCloud  to get a .vcf file and then import it to your Android phone (or Google Contacts). Here's how to do it:

How to download a .vcf file of your contacts

On your iPhone, go  to the Settings app  and then  your profile  at the top.
Tap  iCloud  and turn on  Contacts . Your contacts will soon be uploaded to Apple's cloud services.
Use a browser to  log  into  iCloud.com  and log in with your Apple ID.
Select  Contacts,  then click  on the icon  in the form of  gear  in the lower left.
Make  click  on  Select All .
Click the gear again and select  Export vCard . When you download the .vcf file, you can import it into Google Contacts or directly to your phone.

How to import contacts into Google Contacts

Go to  contacts.google.com  and click  Import , then  Go to old contacts .
Click the More button   and select  Import .
Select the file and you're done.

2. How to transfer the calendar from iPhone to Android

Just like with Contacts, your calendar can also be synchronized with your Google account, but it will only be useful if you have done it from the beginning. You don't want to manually edit all calendar entries, so we'll show you how to transfer all calendar events in a batch. Oh, and we'll still use iCloud.

How to transfer calendar entries via iCloud

On your iPhone, go  to the Settings app  and tap on  your profile  at the top.
Tap  iCloud  and turn calendars on / off  . Your iPhone will now sync your local calendar files to iCloud.

Use a browser to log into iCloud.com  and log in with your iCloud account.
Click  on  the  Calendar icon  to open the Calendar interface.
In the left pane, click the Share calendar button  next to the calendar you want to export.
In the pop-up balloon, select  Public Calendar  and copy the  sharing URL  displayed below it.
In a new tab or window of the web browser, paste the copied URL.
Change the  webcal  in the URL to  http  and press the  Enter key  to open the address. The web browser will download a file with random characters as the file name. This file is actually a copy of your iCloud calendar entries.

Save the file in a convenient folder on your computer. For convenience, you can rename the file and add the .ics extension   (e.g.  calendar.ics  ).

Open and access  Google Calendar  on your web browser.

In the left pane of the Google Calendar interface, click  the  rightmost button of Other calendars and select  Import .

Select the  exported calendar file  that you downloaded from iCloud. You can also choose the target Google calendar (if you have more than one) in the same dialog.

Click  the Import button  to upload the file. After the import is complete, you should be able to see the imported items in the Google Calendar web interface. The new voices will also be synchronized with your Android device.

3. Transfer your photos from iPhone to Android

Switching from iPhone to Android does not mean that you have to leave all those precious photos behind. It would be horrible to lose them in the process of moving to Android, right? You could probably do things the old way and manually transfer files like a caveman would. Or as an expert and take advantage of the fantastic cloud storage services to which we now have access.

You could simply back up your photos to Drive, Dropbox or your favorite service, but the Google  Photos app   is the simplest . Photos allows you to upload unlimited high-quality images and sync them to your smartphone. And yes, it is available for both Android and iOS.
